Bakit Wala Ka Pang Asawa?

Bakit Wala Ka Pang Asawa? (Why Are You Not Yet Married?)

There are times when I meet a single man or woman – successful, good looking, has a good character, has the right age for marriage, I would always ask myself, “Bakit kaya wala pa siyang asawa?” (with a big question mark). I just can’t find any reason why such person can’t be married yet.

Bakit nga ba? Bakit? Bakit?

Truth is, there is not one specific answer. If there is, I could have been married now and all my other single friends too.

Some could have their own reasons of why, some could have formulated their own ready answers just to easily deal with it, and some are still trying to figure it out.

But then I realize, the answer to the “Why” is something that we need to leave with God.  Would we be able to handle if God would answer it?  Instead, we should start asking God, “What?”

What should I be doing while I’m still single?

Do I have a balanced personal and work life?

Is my character displaying godly traits?

Is my mind perceiving the right thoughts?

Am I committed to my relationship with God, family and peers?

A lot of married couples say that being single is truly a blessing. It is a phase in life that should be maximized and not wasted on unnecessary things. However, this is something most singles fail to realize. Some are too focused in their careers and ambitions that they forgot about relationships. Or, some wanting to have all sorts of experiences that they jump from one relationship to another. Some are living the life the way they want it to be and just don’t care of the consequences. And some, clouded by their own insecurities, fears and failures that they just gave up trying to become better.

Until  we start doing “What” God has intended us to do, we will continue to miss out the blessings of being single.

We just have to trust God that when the right time comes, just like when God brought Eve to Adam, God will also make it happen for us. Until God is not yet done with us being single, we will never be married.

So for now…

Let’s set aside the “Why” and start doing the “What”.

I am 30.

I did something drastic on my 30th. I had my hair trimmed short. Well, it should have been more short but the stylist told me it’s too drastic. So, I let him decide for the length. (Pixie, short hairstyle became an “in” thing recently.) And so here it is…

changeIt felt so light and really refreshing! heheheh…

I don’t look 30, right? 🙂

But I’m grateful to even reach 30. It’s a blessing to be able to live 30 years. Just imagine living another 30 years, really long right? Life is indeed a blessing. But to live a fruitful life is much much more. And I owe everything to God who truly has been faithful in allowing me to live an abundant and fruitful 30 years.

The best gift God has given me this year is the opportunity to go back to Canada and start a new life there. It is a granted dream and answered prayer. Indeed, God does not withhold good things to those who love Him. Why would He? He is good and generous. He gives the best and He is the best Giver.

The best gift God has given me in my whole existence is His love and grace through Jesus Christ. That, I can never trade for anything, even my dream. I’m totally sold out to Jesus. I can’t imagine living another 30 years without Jesus in my life. I just can’t. Indeed, His word is true that apart from Him, I am nothing.

The second best gift God has given me are people. I am grateful to be able to see other parts of the world, experience the good things – but those would be worthless if I didn’t get to share those with different people that God has put in my life. My 30th year got sweeter because of the relationships that God has sustained and for new people that He has added into my life. They say that the only thing you can bring to heaven are people. And so, I’d rather invest on people than on material things. I want to see them all in heaven.

I’m looking forward to an exciting journey as I enter a new phase in my life. I’m just comforted with God’s promise that in this journey, He is walking beside me, ahead of me and behind me.

I am 30. I am forever secure in His presence.

To God be all the praise and glory!

Cheers to all 30’s and beyond!!

[Persevering] Day 2: God Hears You

Reading: Psalm 40:4-5

How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust,
And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.
Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is none to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.

Reflection:

Knowing God

  • God blesses the man who trusts in Him and who does not turn to the proud and those who lapse into falsehood
  • Many are God’s wonderful works and thoughts toward us, too numerous to count
  • God is incomparable

When you have trials in life, to whom do you first turn to?

Before I had a deep relationship with God, I always turn to my friends first whenever I have problems. I don’t even go to my family. And when I remember God, that’s only when I pray. However, this has changed when I realized that God is the only one who could sustain me in the midst of my problems.

Now, I always turn to God first and just pour out unto Him all my concerns. When we start trusting God, knowing that He is in control of everything, we will have peace, stillness and joy that we can’t explain. These are the blessings we can receive from God even if we are flooded with problems.

Then, I turn to the people whom God uses to help me in my problems. When we turn to people, let’s make sure that they will impart to us wisdom that comes from the Lord and not from the standard of the world (And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.) It’s important that we pray to God to give us people who could give us godly counsel. I realized how blessed I am to be a part of a community of believers because there are people who will not just give me counsel but will also pray for me.

Have you been trusting God not just with your problems but with your whole life? Only God can understand the very depth of your heart. He will be pleased that you run to Him first. And if you feel like you don’t have anyone to turn to, always remember that God is just waiting for you. He hears you. And He will speak to you through the Bible. In the Bible, you will see how God has heard the cry of a lot of people and how He has helped them during difficult times. He will also do the same for you as long as you trust Him.

If you haven’t called to God, maybe, it’s time you call upon Him. Let this prayer guide you.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank you for always thinking about me even if I fail to remember you.  Today, I commit that I will always run to you first – in my victories and trials. Thank you for the promise of blessings for those who trust in you. Teach me Lord to trust you always that I may walk not in the ways of this world but in Your ways.  This I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Song:

Hope this song will remind you of who God is.
