Not Exempted from Pain

No one can judge you on how you go through pain. There is no big or small pain. To each is it’s own. There is also no right formula on how to overcome pain. How God created us also includes our own unique way of dealing pain. However, what is common to all of us is that we should be able to overcome it. We may dwell on it but we must not remain dwelling on it like there is no hope of healing. How are you overcoming pain in your life? Do you know that God is the GREATEST COMFORTER? The deepest thoughts and emotions that we could not describe, He ALONE can give the kind of comfort that we need. He sees the depth of our pain even without words. God can help us overcome as He comforts us. Don’t dwell.

What’s your worth?

Do you feel like you have to prove your worth to other people? Or, have you allowed other people to define your worth as a person? I just want to let you know that you are not alone.

I reached that point in my life that I was swallowed by all my insecurities. I realized how I have allowed other people to define me. And during those times that I felt rejected, I started comparing myself to other people. I saw myself as unworthy and not worth pursuing for. It was during those times that God reminded me of who I am in His sight. I got reminded that if the Creator who made me -pursues me, accepts me and loves me without conditions, then how other people see me does not matter anymore. My worth is defined by my Creator.

I hope that if you are doubting your worth, you will see yourself the way God sees you.

Flowers, Date and Whatnot…

Can you feel the LOVE

love

Or, are you one of those “single beings” who will once again feel like an outcast on the 14th of February? That feeling when you can’t ask any of your girlfriends to hang out with you because they all have dates. That feeling when you see everyone posting in FB/Instagram photos of flowers and chocolates they received. That feeling when all of a sudden you just feel like eating out and you can’t find a place because you didn’t make reservation days before. If that’s how you had been feeling for the past years, it’s okay. Trust me, you are not alone in that boat.

I said it’s okay because I believe it is not about being insecure, jealous or bitter. It’s that feeling when you walk into a conference of doctors and you are a musician. It emphasizes what you are not. Not yet married, no kids – STILL SINGLE. And for sure, you get that feeling on other days too. Valentine’s day just adds more drama to it.

So, do you dwell or do you overcome?

If you choose to dwell on that feeling, make sure that it will not lead you to do something temporary just to make you feel better and will have consequences that you will regret in the future. If you choose to dwell and sink in your emotions, bring it all to the Lord. You can ask Him, you can cry out to Him, you can be desperate in His presence. You can be real to Him. He will not judge you with what you feel.

If you choose to overcome, make sure you don’t overcome it by being stone-hearted and hostile on people who celebrates relationship and marriage. If you choose to overcome, it is because you choose to trust on God’s timing for you. You choose to be grateful because being single also has its own blessings that you can enjoy.

So, whatever you decide to do on Feb. 14, I hope that you do it in LOVE.

Love for God, Love for Others, Love for Yourself.

Enough Day Dreaming

When I was in my younger years, I used to play “pretend” a lot. I pretended to be a teacher or an office girl. As years passed by, my interest for computers grew when my uncle gave us our very first desktop computer. I decided to pursue a degree on computer rather than pursuing my second interest which was journalism. I felt like I got so exhausted with my 5-year degree that I badly wanted it to be done. I didn’t care anymore about my grades, all I wanted was to pass and graduate.

Between the time I was playing pretend to the time I finished university, I rarely dreamed of big things. At some point, I had some dreams which I think were more of imaginations. You know, the kind you just day dream about but you really did not do anything about it. Most of the time, I only thought of what’s real in front of me – to graduate and have a job. That’s it. No long term plans. Nothing.

And then, big change happened. The small city girl had to make the biggest move of her life. I had to live in a city where I never wanted to be. Although looking back now, I’m glad I took that step of faith. (Thank God for that very good job offer!) The circumstances that God allowed to happen between that time and now had taught me to become a dreamer.

dream

God inspired me to dream not just to have a list I can check for every item I’ve accomplished. God inspired me to dream because I need to live a life that will increase my faith and allow me to experience God each day. He inspired me to dream of bigger things because I need to depend more on Him in doing things I can never do just on my own. God inspired me to dream that I may learn to step out of faith when He asks me to leave my comfort zone. He inspired me to dream that I may never live just for myself but also for other people.

You don’t need to be in a certain place or situation for God to cause you to dream bigger. You could be at the lowest point of your life or at the peak of your career. You just have to own that dream and trust that He will enable you to achieve it.

When God inspires us to dream, we have to act upon it. It’s time we stop day dreaming and allow God to really work in us and through us. When you think things are just so impossible to do, that’s when you can truly see and experience how real God is. He loves impossible. He loves big dreams. Because that is His expertise.

Today, I challenge you to challenge God. I dare you to ask God to increase your faith that He may be able to inspire you to dream, and not just simply dream but to dream big. It will be an exciting journey with God! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Press the Reset Button

reset

Victory and greatness can sometimes blind me of the real important things in life.

Defeat and challenges can sometimes paralyze me to focus on the things that truly matter.

I feel like I always have to press the “reset” button every time either of those happen in my life.

And now, as I just turned 31 this month, I feel like I need to do a reset of priorities again.

I felt like I’ve lost the end goal in mind and I merely chose to live each day as it comes.

I lost a sense of target, a vision.

I realize that for the past months, I’ve wasted a lot of my time doing unnecessary things and sometimes not doing anything at all.

What happened to me, maximizing my life being single?

I don’t know. I just lost it.

But I’m grateful that I can always start again. I can always go back to my list of faith goals that I set at the start of this year.

I’m just glad I made a list!

As I once again press that “reset” button, I pray that I will never lose sight again of the vision that God has given to me at the start of this year. I pray that everything I will be doing will always be aligned to what God had already set for me for this year.

And as I continue to wait on certain things in my life, I pray that I will never grow weary and lose hope.

I will continue to live with God’s vision in mind, enjoying the present.

————-o————–

My heart is not proud, Lord,
    my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
But I have calmed and quieted myself,
    I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content.
