Tired of Waiting

How many times have you given up on waiting? What’s the most difficult part when you wait? God has brought me into so many waiting seasons in my life, including now. Who would have thought I would once again be on this season of looking for work and waiting on the right opportunity for me? It’s tempting to worry and get ahead of God, settling for what’s easy.

But, I’ve experienced God’s faithfulness so many times already that this time, I can’t fret anymore. It’s really because of who He is and His grace that I can keep walking by faith.

More than looking forward to that day of Him providing me job, I’m just excited of what He is doing to my life in my day to day. That’s what is making my waiting more exciting – His daily presence in my life. I’m running, walking, waiting – but I’m not weary.

I hope that you find strength in Jesus always, whatever you are waiting for, entrust your life, your future, your today to Jesus. He’s got this. Just believe.

Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Make a Ditch

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord.” – 2 Kings 3:16-18

Have you been praying for something and you feel like nothing is happening? When I read those verses in 2 Kings, I can’t help but be ashamed of how demanding I can get with God. Especially this verse- “And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord”.

As I was reflecting on those verses, I was so reminded of how naive I could get on how God works. Especially when the season of waiting is getting longer. We start to question if God really hears us or if He even is really doing something.

To give you a background of those verses… During the old times of Israel, the king of Israel, Judah and Edom were going to a battle against the Moabites. On their journey, they ran out of water for their army and for their animals and so the king of Judah looked for a prophet to inquire the Lord. And so Elisha spoke to them those very words from the Lord.

There was only one thing that God asked them to do. To fill the valley where they  were at with ditches. How hard could that be right? But then, the follow up was that they will never see rain or wind to fill those ditches with water. Do you think that makes sense? If there’s no rain, then how could they have water?

There are times in our life that God would ask us to step out in faith even if it doesn’t really make sense for us. And most of the time, we would always question God’s ways. If there is no rain coming, will you ever dig a hole?

But that’s how God works. Most of the time, He works behind the scene. We don’t see how He orchestrates things. We will not see how He will fill the ditch with water. We will just see the water, that’s all. That’s why He asked us to live by faith and not by sight.

And indeed, God fulfilled His promise. Everyone got provided with water. If they did not make a ditch, they will never have water. Is there anything in your life right now that God is asking you to take a leap of faith?

The most assuring thing in those verses did not just end with His promise. He ended it with the words most of us would always forget. IT IS A SIMPLE MATTER! We forget that we serve and worship a powerful God. The One who created the whole universe. We forget that we seek a sovereign God. And in Him, nothing is impossible.

I hope those verses will encourage you to take a leap of faith in Jesus and  to trust and wait on God’s behind the scene plan and timing based not on your own confidence or faith, but based on God’s character and of who He is in your life.

Go make that ditch! God bless you!

Walk in Faith

Life has so many unknowns and so many seasons of waiting. It is either we walk in faith or we walk in fear. How are you dealing with the uncertainties in your life?

I hope that as you face those, you will never forget that God is already ahead of you. He already knows what is coming. And the best person you can only depend on during the times of uncertainty is the Person who has seen what is ahead. Depend on God. Trust in His Sovereignty. Walk in Faith.

The only certainty in a place of uncertainty is knowing that

Don’t Lose to Temporary

Are you losing hope in your current situation? You feel like you can never get out from it? I have my own share of struggles also and everything just looks so blur as to how I will be able to overcome those. I was so encouraged and reminded by these lines from a movie which are also based on Biblical principles. Indeed, only God knows how we will be able to overcome. We just have to stop losing our self to the worries but instead surrender everything to God and just let Him work in our life.

How do we not lose our self to the temporary? By being rooted into the Word of God and prayers. Only God can truly assure and secure us of what lies ahead. We just have to trust Him!

The BIG Question

Last Saturday, I accompanied my friend’s daughter to watch the movie, Trolls. Overall, I really had a super fun day. The movie was really entertaining. I basically spent most of my day with my friend’s daughter as she wanted us to do other things together after the movie. In short, we had a blast!

Anyway, you know with kids nowadays. They are very smart and they really ask a lot of questions – really good ones. The biggest question I had that day which was not only asked once during the whole time my friend’s daughter and I were together was, “Do you have a husband?” It started from the question of how old I was, etc. Then, “Do you have a husband?”

And of course when you say no, there is a follow up. “Why don’t you have a husband?” I get these questions from my friends and now the pressure is on even from the little ones. Haha! I just laughed so hard not expecting we would be having that kind of conversation. Kids!

It’s a question I am so used already of being asked and my other single friends too. And in all honesty, it doesn’t really bother me. I don’t mind at all. Someday, I might be giving a different answer. Who knows, right? But for the meantime, while my answer is still a no, I will continue living a life that will only pursue what is God’s best for me.

Beautifully waiting does not mean I will just sit at a corner, not doing anything. Beautifully waiting means going on with life without compromising God’s best for me. It means if choosing only His best entails being single for now, then I will trust and wait.

Cheers to all singles who are waiting on God’s best!!
